I have been a DJI person for quite some time and currently have 8+ DJI drones and would have had 9 if not for import problems this year. But, like I said, this new Helius has caught my eye.

Comment on SkyfireAI: The Starting Gun Has Fired on the Drone “Space Race” by Iamuprise™ https://dronelife.com/2025/07/18/skyfireai-the-starting-gun-has-fired-on-the-drone-space-race/#comment-731745 Mon, 21 Jul 2025 12:28:15 +0000 https://dronelife.com/?p=106805#comment-731745 So you want to start another cold war race. All this did was destroy the recreational drone industry. I enjoyed flying for fun. Apparently flying for fun is not allowed as we must build, American drones and for who do you think for? Not American consumers but for its military. Does someone want a war? Are you expecting one soon? Who ever bought a drone in the last 10. Years is the drone market. Americans due to fear, thank you govt & politicians for that reason. Privacy issues. Raise you hand if you love drones flying over your property.? Regulations & Registration. You don’t think the govt is going to increase both of these. Expect every drone built and every remote pilot to adhere to twice the number of regulations then before. I’m sure they’ll want to know who, where, what, when you fly, but they already do. Flying for fun is a thing of the past. If you ain’t flying for Uncle Sam and buying from him well that’s just unamerican you trader. Time to deport you. We all know why we prefer DJI drones. Cause Americans are fat, slow and lazy. God forsake we do something our selves. It’s a free market because that’s what we like & created.. No one wants to make shit when were the richest country. We prefer buying shit as long as it’s cheaper. No body has a mind of it’s own anymore. Create your own thing and dominate that. Didn’t bait me with fear, and we’re so behind the race crap. You can smell where this is going s mile away. Didn’t they want that way over with? Oh well now we can sell them more devices to help kill. Profit profits. Cute you you got there is that like one of those drones mister?

My concern is the speed at which we can get moving to catch up. I have no doubt in our country’s ability to produce the best drones in the world en masse, but getting started can be tough. Is there a milestone set for say 100,000 units from 3 manufacturers? Are there 3 who can produce better drones?

Comment on DJI Raises Concerns Over Expedited Security Review by Greg Pierce https://dronelife.com/2025/07/17/dji-raises-concerns-over-expedited-security-review/#comment-730793 Sat, 19 Jul 2025 12:58:29 +0000 https://dronelife.com/?p=106800#comment-730793 It’s silly mostly.

There ARE ways to resolve this. The drone itself is just a random collection of components that gather data. It’s the data that people are concerned with, and THAT is where they should be focussing. If the concern is that the data could be used in some other ways, require that all of the data be hosted at a partner within the United States. The drones themselves don’t have the ability to transmit data overseas, they can only downlink data. So you need to simply validate that no drone operating in the US can deliver its data to anything other than its downlink (through encryption or other) and then put some regulations around those endpoints.

Its not rocket science. The IT industry does endpoint protection ALL THE TIME. If you want to secure the data – secure the DATA. This is smaller variant of the TikTok concern, and quite honestly something that should be done far broader than TikTok and DJI. If you want to secure American data – regulate how that should be done like many other countries already do with GDPR and similar. You can make sure that data collected by ANY company that’s supposed to remain in the US – STAYS in the US.

Comment on DJI Raises Concerns Over Expedited Security Review by DAVID MARCHIONE https://dronelife.com/2025/07/17/dji-raises-concerns-over-expedited-security-review/#comment-730606 Sat, 19 Jul 2025 03:44:41 +0000 https://dronelife.com/?p=106800#comment-730606 I currently own a DJI Mini Pro 4 along with drones from other brands. When it comes to technology, battery life, and overall functionality, nothing in its class compares. I understand the push for protectionism and the call to support U.S.-made products—but undermining innovation from abroad isn’t the answer. The U.S. has always been capable of leading through ingenuity, and I hope we rise to that challenge, especially in the drone space. Targeting DJI in this way doesn’t show strength—it shows fear. Instead of trying to block the competition, step up, innovate, and build something better.
