Renewed Partnership to Bring Faster Emergency Aid to 25% of Region’s Population by End of 2026

Gothenburg, Sweden-based drone systems developer Everdrone AB recently announced the renewal and significant expansion of its collaboration with Region Västra Götaland (VGR), one of Sweden’s largest regional health authorities. This newly enhanced partnership will allow Everdrone’s Drone Emergency Medical Services (DEMS) to reach more patients than ever when timely care is needed most.
The renewed agreement, extending through December 2026, sets the stage for a broader rollout of Everdrone’s autonomous drone network as Everdrone and its partners aim to expand to 10 strategically located Skybases throughout the region over the next 7 months, covering approximately 25% of the population in VGR. Each “Skybase” functions as an independent operational hub, ensuring faster access to emergency medical support in areas limited by terrain or congestion.

Drone Emergency Medical Services: What it Looks Like
The expanded service will continue to focus on out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA), delivering automated external defibrillators (AEDs) directly to the scene. The project is part of a clinical trial led by Karolinska Institutet and VGR, scientifically evaluating the impact of drone deliveries in life-threatening situations.
Everdrone’s latest-generation DEMS system also features integrated LiveView functionality, delivering real-time video feeds directly to emergency services and dispatch centers. This capability gives emergency services a clear picture of the scene even before the arrival of first responders, increasing situational awareness and allowing for better decision-making.
“Through this expansion, we’re combining two of the most powerful tools in emergency response—speed and visibility,” says Jonatan Green, Project Manager at Sjukvårdens Larmcentral. “It’s not just about getting there faster, but about knowing more when you do.”
This partnership provides a working model for how regions can modernize emergency care through public-private collaboration, data-driven planning, and field-tested innovation. The ongoing partnership with Region Västra Götaland, alongside clinical evaluation led by Karolinska Institutet, demonstrates how drone-enabled emergency support can be implemented responsibly and at scale.
